Pelham is a public golf course that offers two excellent eighteen hole courses set in the largest park in the city. It is easy for you to get to with your car rental in New York City, but you may sometimes encounter wild deer, turkey, and pheasant on the here. Starting slow

The first course here is Pelham Bay Course. This is the easier of the two courses. The links-style design is of a medium size and speed without water obstacles. There are several sand bunkers however. The signature hole here is number 9: a par four with a green that is well-bunkered. This golf course originally opened in 1901 as a 9-hole course and was expanded in 1914 due to its popularity. More advanced golfers

There is a creek that creeps through four holes over the rolling terrain. The signature hole here is the eighteenth. It is a par four that required you to go around what may be America's oldest living White Oak tree.

Getting here

To get here with your car rental in New York City, take FDR Drive to Triboro Bridge. Once over the bridge, keep to the left and follow the signs for the Bronx/Bruckner Expressway. Take the Bruckner to the I-95 North on the New England Thruway. Get off at exit 8B (Orchard Beach/City Island). Once off the expressway, follow the road over the bridge to a set of lights. Go straight and you will come to a traffic circle. Go half way and get off on Shore Road North. The park will come up.

Golf the Bronx

The Van Cortlandt Golf course is another unique stop with your car rental in New York City because it was the nation's first public golf course when it opened in 1895. This course has two of the longest par fives in the city. Many people enjoy playing on this course. It is a challenge and every hole is unique. Every golfer is able to take something away from their game here, no matter what skill level you play at. Holes numbered 2 and 12 are especially a challenge for even experience golfers at 625 and 605 yards respectively!
