In 1995 the Nissan Sentra underwent a few major changes, including a widening in the frame. A sportier edition of the Sentra was released in '99 but the major changes took affect at the turn of the century. The freshly redesigned 2001 Sentra offered a large 1.8 liter engine that was capable of 126 horsepower. The 2002 SE-R model also boasted a sweet engine that pumps out 170 horsepower from a 2.5 liter DOHC motor. This engine uses award winning technology to help combat vibrations and other engine problems. The SE-R Sentra comes with a standard 5 speed manual transmission, with an optional 4 speed automatic. The Sporty interior of the SE-R model offers a variety of convenience upgrades that include overhead storage consoles, a leather wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, plus a range of other sporty accents.
