Deno's Wonder Wheel Amusement Park is a famous New York City landmark, which you can visit with your New York car rental. Located right on the boardwalk at Deno's Vourderis Place (formerly West 12th Street) on Coney Island. Wonder what's happening?

The Wonder Wheel was built in 1920 by the Eccentric Ferris Wheel Company and has maintained a perfect safety record throughout its history. It became an official New York landmark in 1989, and is a great place to visit with your New York car rental. The wheel stands 150 feet high and has a diameter of 140 feet. 144 people can ride on it at one time. The Wonder Wheel stopped only once in its history: during the Great NYC Blackout in 1977. At this time, the entire northeast lost electrical power, but all riders were brought down safely with the crank wheel. You may recognize the Wonder Wheel from movies such as He's Got Game and Uptown Girls.

There are plenty of rides for kids and adults here, and families are welcome to visit with your New York car rental. Rides can be purchased on a per-ride basis. For kids, there are 17 rides to choose from, and each ride costs $2.50. For older riders, there are more rides down the center ramp from the kiddie park. There are 5 adult rides with prices from $4-$5. Some of the adult rides such as the Wonder Wheel and Spook-A-Rama have no height requirement, so kids can also ride with adults on these.

Spook-A-Rama is a ride through a hunted house. Don't worry, the goblins are only looking for a good body! Just don't look up and you won't be spooked. Bumper cars are always fun when you just want to kid around with your friends and family. Thunderbolt will take you on a spin at 60 miles per hour, while Super Shot will shoot you high into the air upside down. Do you need more encouragement?

Getting to the park

You can visit the Wonder Wheel with your New York car rental from Memorial Day through Labor Day. It is open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. until midnight. The Wonder Wheel is located on the Boardwalk of Coney Island between the Original Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Restaurant and the New York Aquarium. To get here with your New York car rental, take the Belt Parkway to Brooklyn and exit at 7S Ocean Parkway South.
