The new Metropolitan Opera House at the Lincoln Center currently features 3,800 seats, plus an addition 195 standing room places. During ballet performances, the size of the orchestra pit is often decreased, allowing for an extra 35 seats at the very front of the auditorium.
Stage dimensions at the new Metropolitan Opera House include a 54 ft (wide) by 54 ft (high) proscenium, and an 80 foot stage.
The architect of the new Metropolitan Opera House was the gifted Wallace K. Harrison.
