Teterboro Airport is a "reliever" airport in the boroughs of Teterboro, Moonachie, and Hasbrouck Heights in New Jersey. It is owned and operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Take a step back in time

Teterboro Airport is the oldest operating airport that you can visit with your Manhattan rent a car. Walter C. Teter acquired the property in 1917. North American Aviation operated a manufacturing plant on the site during the First World War. After, it was a base of operations for Anthony Fokker, a Dutch aircraft designer. The first flight took place here in 1919. During World War II, the United States Army and the U.S. Air Force operated the airport. Finally, it was purchased by the Port Authority in 1949. Today, the Port Authority assumes full control of the land.
