New York City Car Rentals and the South Street Seaport Museum
New York city car rentals can transport you to the South Street Seaport Museum where youll wander back to the 18th and 19th century to see what life was like. The South Seaport Museum is located in a 12-square-block historic district in lower Manhattan.
South Street Seaport Museum has a mission to trace the history of the Port of New York, and its commercial and cultural impact on the city, the state, and the nation.
New York Unearthed - City Archaeology
New York city car rentals encourage you to experience this history through New York Unearthed. This is a city archaeology education program developed to help you piece together 6,000 years of history from excavated artifacts.
On the top level of the archaeology lab at NY Unearthed, youll be able to see the timeline of the citys past. On the bottom level, youll see a glass-enclosed conservation laboratory. Some days you might spot staff processing some items from the two-million-artifact collection.
If you want to see a three-dimensional cross-section of an archaeological site, take a look at backyards, say New York city car rentals. Learn how digging deep basements for skyscrapers can destroy valuable historic evidence.
Artifacts from The Five Points
Currently on Display at Schermerhorn Row Galleries is Artifacts from The Five Points. About 850,000 artifacts were recovered from an archaeological dig. These artifacts were taken to an underground lab underneath the World Trade Center for further study. The objects that survived the September 11, 2001 destruction of the World Trade Centre are displayed at 12 Fulton Street.
Interesting fact:
New York city car rentals ask if you knew The Five Points was featured in the movie Gangs of New York? These artifacts are currently at the lab at New York Unearthed.
