Step back in time

Baldwin was originally known as Hicks Neck between Parsonage Creek and Milburn Creek. It was founded in 1855 as Baldwinsville Village in honor of Thomas Baldwin, who owned a hotel and general store in the village. The name was later changed to Baldwin because there was another Baldwinsville in upstate New York that confused people. In the early 1900s, people moved to “Beautiful Baldwin”, as it was named by a local realtor, because of the great boating, bathing, and fishing facilities. It grew to be the largest unincorporated village in New York State with the opening of the Sunrise Highway.
